In July 2011, Ofel de Mesa , 6 years old from San Juan Batangas became comatose due to meningitis. She was confined for three days in a nearby hospital and was transferred to the Regional Hospital where she stayed for another three days. Her condition did not improve. Due to financial constraints, the parents decided to take her home, against medical advice. Ofel stayed at home without medications and unable to eat as her parents and neighbours watch her deteriorating. Two days after, a banana vendor donated Quantumin Plus to the parents.
